I am about to wipe it again and install XP. The very same driver also worked on this forum member’s dv8K who also just upgraded to W7. Unfortunately, there is no 64 bit driver for that model audio chip. Do you already have an account? The hardware ID for the device you see listed in the device manager as a multimedia audio controller.

Most of the DV series has drivers posted for Vista- which may work in Windows 7. Here is a partial copy and paste of that driver setup information file, and the hardware ID you posted is supported by the driver. Install the chipset vv8000 first and reboot.
