I was able to get an old Precison with onboard AIC intstalled using old drivers. Just shows you can never rely on anything.
Microsoft said it was the controller. Friday, November 13, 3: Post-install on first boot, say “Yes” or whatever to that effect when Windows 7 asks “Do you want to use the unsigned driver”? It is OK as long as you have the drivers. Going for the chipset driver yielded the expectd resulted. I finally found the solution.
I have disabled the onboard lsi u and installed an Adpatec A which is supported by windows 7 hostraid disabled.

I feel like I’m a bit late to the party, but here’s a solution which I just got running last night: I am still having an issue after rebooting and after loading disk. LSI should show “not supported”.
Install updated drivers for the following devices. The scsi host adapter drivers need to be added during Custom installation when you get to the where do you want to install page add drivers in blue.
